Bride 1945

Capo on fifth fret.

(C) She was so (B7) young then, (Dm) he wasn't much (G7) older
(C) He loved her (B7) some and (Dm he was a (Fm) (G) soldier
(E7) She wrote him everyday so (Am) far across the (Fm) sea
He sent her a (C) post-card, of the (G7) boys in his (C) company

The war was over, yeah they got married
Everything clover, her and her Harry
She planned the future, what's a girl to think about?
A home in the suburbs if they could learn to do without

Rollers and hair pins, she doesn't care now
Harry's a salesman, he's never there now
It's all for nothing and the kids don't care at all
One just quit college and the youngest left last fall

She was so young then, he wasn't much older
He loved her some and he was a soldier
She planned the future, whats a girl to think about?
A home in the suburbs if they could learn to do without
